Mini Session vs. Petite Session: Why a Petite Session Might Be the Best Choice for Your Family This Fall
It’s that time of year — cozy sweaters, golden light, and the question I hear from so many moms:
“What's the difference between a petite session and a mini session”
Here’s the truth: both are great options — but depending on your family, one might serve you so much better than the other. If you’re here trying to decide, let me walk you through the differences — and why so many of my clients end up so thankful they chose a petite session for fall photos.
What’s a Fall Mini Session?
Mini sessions are short and sweet — just enough time to grab a few beautiful, polished images for your holiday card or to update the frames around the house.
They’re best for you if:
- You’ve had family photos recently and just need a quick refresh
- Your kids warm up fast and follow direction well
- You only need 1–2 solid shots and you’re okay with less variety
What’s included:
- 10–15 minute session
- Set location and date (you’ll choose a time slot)
- Smaller gallery with the option to upgrade
What’s a Petite Session?
Petite sessions are slower than a mini session but not quite as long as a full session. These sessions give us time to breathe, explore, and get more storytelling moments (and real connection).
What’s included:
- 20-25 minutes together
- Styling support & Style Guide
- A larger gallery with a mix of posed + candid images
- Time for all the combos — siblings, individual shots, even just you and your partner
If your little ones take time to warm up or if you want to create something truly meaningful to print and hang on your walls — this is the way to go.
If you're not sure what’s best, just reach out. I’ll be honest with you and help you choose the session that feels right for your family.
